After sufficient aging and careful selection, a large hydraulic band saw is used to saw raw planks from scantling or floorboard-grade lumber, thus producing the so-called “rifts”. This is the name of growth rings showing vertical grain – an absolute must-have for a good stage floor.

The cut raw planks are put into the drying chamber, where they are carefully dried to a humidity of eight or nine per cent. After that they are sorted according to their density in our patented plant.

According to customers’ specifications, the good lumbers are then shaped into cover lamellas for Wertheim 3S-panels or floorboards with matching tongue and groove. During the production process further visual sorting processes are carried out by our experienced employees. Rejected lumbers are not thrown away, they are used for other applications, e.g. for the lower surface of our Wertheim 3S- panels.

The finished Wertheim 3S-panels or floorboards leave the heated warehouse of Bühnenbau Wertheim GmbH only, when they are delivered to the construction site to ensure their optimum quality when laying the floor.
